Set up in 2006, the project aims to improve the street animals’ welfare and reduce populations with a programme of neutering and treatment for common ailments such as worms and ear mites. Dechra has pledged its support for 2009 and will donate enough Sedator and Atipam to supply the needs of the neutering programme.
Claire Sedgewick, a veterinary nurse and co-founder of Help the Street Animals of Morocco (HSAM) says, “Currently, we travel to Morocco biannually for two weeks at a time. In that time, we neuter and treat as many animals that we find or that are brought to us by the local people.
“Our latest trip in September was very successful and we neutered 116 cats and six dogs – exceeding our targets. To operate on this amount of animals, it is important for us to have anaesthetic products that enable sedation, neutering and revival to be as quick and safe as possible – Sedator and Atipam are perfect for this.
“Our volunteers, sponsors, and local veterinary surgeon Dr Adnan El Aji, are vital for taking our programme forward and we are grateful to Dechra Veterinary Products for its continued support,” Ms Sedgewick concludes.
